INTER-OPERABLE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM PROJECT :
Ministry of Home Affairs has approved implementation of ICJS project Phase II during 2022-23 to 2025-26, as a Central Sector Scheme.
ICJS is an initiative of e-Committee of Supreme Court to enable seamless transfer of data and information among different pillars of criminal justice system.
ICJS is a national platform for enabling integration of the main IT system used
for delivery of Criminal Justice in the country by five pillars namely:
(1) Police (Crime and Criminal Tracking and Network Systems)
(2) e-Forensics
(3) e-Courts
(4) e-Prosecution for Public Prosecutors
(5) e-Prisons
Phase-II is built on the principle of ‘one data one entry’whereby data is entered only once in one pillar and the same is then available in all other pillars. Under Phase-I, individual IT systems have been implemented and stabilized; search of records has been enabled. National Crime Records Bureau
will be responsible for the implementation of ICJS in association with National Informatics Center, in collaboration with States and UTs.
